Training Program of PhD in CAE

  1. Additional units of study

Additional units of study are units that help fellows to have enough specialist knowledge and level to practice their responsibility. Depends on each admission subject, the number of units fellows need to add will be counted. Fellows with Master degree of the field « Control And Automation Technology » are not required to take additional units of study.

1.1. Additional units of study for fellows without Master degree

Additional units of study are units of Master training program which is required for « Control And Automation Technology » major undertaking training program at The University of Danang. Fellows need to sign up for compulsory units and choose a few self-study subjects in order to ensure the number of credits to be between 28 and 36 (whether Philosophy and Foreign language are included or not depends on major).

In which: Theoretical units of study contains 02 credits and practice, discussion, semine and so on contain 01 credit.

1.2. Additional units of study for fellows with Master degreein relevant major

For fellows with Master degree in relevant majorto the training major or with Master degree of the correct major but had graduated long time ago or the degree was issued by different universities,  additional units of study that fellows have to take will be underfined by the chairmen of Faculty Of Electrical Engineering depending on comparison of subjects took at the previous relevant master training program and additional units of study mentioned in 2.1.1.1, so as to fulfill requirements of the major and the field of study.

In necessary circumstances, if undergraduate training program of fellows lacks some subjects and units which play an important role in training Master and Doctor levels, the chairmen of the faculty can require fellows to add some units of study at undergraduate level.

  1. Units of study, PhD special subjects and comprehensive essays

2.1. PhD units of study

PhD units of study help fellows to update new and latest knowledge in their specialist field; to improve theoretical level, research methodology and ability to apply important, essential scientific research method of their field. Each unit is desgined to be contained from 2 to 3 credits. Every fellow has to finish from 3 to 5 units of study with 8 to 12 credits at PhD level. 

PhD units of study include compulsory and optional units, in which the former ones are basic units of study relating to high-level core knowledge of the major and field. Optional units’ advanced content will be suitable with the studying field or topic of fellow or will assist them in practicing major and multi-major research methods or writing articles.

2.2. PhD Special subject

PhD Special subjectsrequire fellow to update latest knowledge directly relating to their topic on their own, to improve their scientific research skill; help them to deal with some content problems of their thesis topic. Every fellow must finish from 2 to 3 PhD Special subjects with the number of credit at 6.

2.3. Comprehensive essays

Every fellow must write a comprehensive essay. Comprehensive essay is about research status and issues relating to the thesis topic which requires fellow to show their skills of analysis and evaluation on previous research of domestic and international authors. The mentioned research must be closely related to the thesis topic. The essay also must point out existed shortcomings and raise problems that need to be solved.  

  1. Scientific research and PhD thesis

3.1. Scientific research

Scientific research is a particular and compulsory phase while studying PhD thesis.Depending on the characteristics of studying field, training program can have different requirements of research activities to form the foundation for fellows to write their thesis.

Research content and scale must fit PhD thesis’s objectives. Depending on the characteristics of the research topic, supervisors will suggest suitable financial support and facilities so that fellows can do necessary research. Fellows must ensure the honesty, accuracy and updating of their scientific research which follows Vietnamese and international policy about intellectual property.

Time of doing scientific research will be set in PhD training time. If the scientific research can not be done during forecasted period due to objective or subjective reasons, fellow can sign up to extend research time to assure the research’s quality. Training cost in extended time will be paid by fellow.

3.2.PhD Thesis

PhD thesis must be a unique, outstanding and creative scientific research in the studying field, it must have theoretical contribution, contain valuable knowledge and solutions in development, incline scientific knowledge of the studying field or must be able to solve existed problems of a science field or of community creatively.

PhD thesis contains about 100 papers in A4 size, of which 50% is used for present research result and fellow’s discussion.
